Desc: Swing State: Directed by Nathaniel Frum. The state of North Carolina is emblematic of the political divides of the rest of the country. The state didn't flip in the last election and in many ways, neither did the country. Everyone is still dug in along their political lines, regardless of the impact policies have on their own lives - mostly to the benefit of those in power. The film focuses on the staunch partisanship that makes the democratic process messy through gerrymandering, voter and candidate intimidation, and the exacerbation of racial and class tensions.
